Community is essential for our success. It provides a sense of belonging, support, and resources. When we are connected to our communities, we are more likely to achieve our goals and live fulfilling lives. But we know that here at BBG, after all that’s why you’re here!
One of the most important ways to get involved in our communities is to become involved in education. Black and Brown students are disproportionately represented in special education and are less likely to graduate from high school or college. Those students are own children, nieces, nephews, god-children or neighbors. But sometimes, there’s a disconnect for how we can get involved to change the landscape for our future world leaders.
For 20+ years, Dr. Erika Tate has dedicated herself to designing and delivering interactive, community-building, and practice-changing K-16 professional development across the United States. Her work has focused on realizing racial equity in education; increasing food access in under-resourced communities and promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) teaching and learning.
There’s a lot happening in education in America right now and we need all hands on deck. We’ll be discussing how to bridge the gap between community and education along with our personal responsibility to ensure we change our slice of the world + a Live Q&A so get your questions ready!
