Dating In The City: How Excited Is Too Excited?
Entertainment — By Lena on October 19, 2011 11:01 amHow excited is too excited?
Let me start by saying, I love, love. I yearn for its Sunday morning comforts, its Friday evening dinners and lazy Saturday movie-thons. However, each time I think I’m coming close to it, some force inside me rebels against all things love.
Christmas eve, first day of school, day before graduation… the excitement that proceeds these days lives in legends, fables and lore. In the beginning of a relationship – two people cannot help to keep their hands off of each other.
These are the people we see kissing in crosswalks (WALK Dumbfucks) making out on subway benches (pretty sure that was a bumb-spot 2 stops ago) and ear nibbling during Apocolypto (who gets turned on by sacrifices and hunting?)
Sad to say I think I am now one of these people – embarrassed to say, really. I have nothing but ire for these people. And yet I cant help but reach for him when we are grabbing drinks with friends.. . while in separate conversations. eww. Leaning in and or accepting of leans in for kisses while brunching with pals… gross. All the while ignoring all side eyes, dirty looks, dry heaves and WTFs from friends and strangers alike.
Who am I becoming and how long will I be possessed by this disease? All the while I know this cannot last – I will tire of this person who is ravishing all the intellect from my soul.
Much to what I’m sure is to be met with confusion; I have already begun to lash out to mightily defend the person who is being drowned in all this newfangled love.
For now, however I am the one blushing at text, flaking on friends, not posting regularly (sorry guys) and ending my days happily wrapped in python embraces. How’s that for the first days school excitement?
